Thank you Felix Gray for sponsoring this episode xx.
We went from wanting to open up the walls to changing up our minds and working with what we have currently since Holly liked having some separation of rooms after I did the fireplace. This DIY living room makeover is "extreme" but insanely doable for all levels of DIY’er’s. I love how although this makeover is so drastic …it costed me less than $100.

Tip for cutting glass: you have to break it right after you cut it. If you wait longer, you get a "cold cut" and the tension in the glass makes it break where it wants. So you should prepare each side separately and then break it immidedly

I’ve also seen that holding the glass under water helps reduce the amount of energy needed to cut it and helps to make a cleaner cut.

Hey we miss you
What is the red tool you add to the drill to get those angle screws in? What is the hidden screw drill tool? The blue one
I'm on day 4 of painting my bedroom...I hate painting rooms, but love the transition...!

Woooww 👌
WOW the wood glue and sawdust trick is super smart
I love the art ledge and the colours
Thank you!
That circle hack is exactly what I did when I created my circle painted wall. It makes sense if you know math, it’s essentially a compass.
🖤
Ooo I appreciate the into. Very, james bond ish/peter McKinnon ish
🖤
Also do you have any videos showing how to caulk? The line I got is wonky and the thickness varies too much also can you touch up caulk?
Do you have to trim? When I paint I feel like you can tell the trim from the inside part or touchups
Rachel you are so good at designing and knowing what to match
Where did u get ur hand-ring from?
Okay cute boy.
Tip - Remember safety first. Always wear protective gearing.
Best of luck with your new friendship with a fellow DIY USworldsr. Making new friends without any expectations is part of the fun of being single. You are free to spend time with anyone you like and it doesn't have to go anywhere!
So peaceful..😍
Thank you!
withwendy and shmoxd in a Rachel video! 👍❤️ yassss
@Living to DIY with Rachel Metz omygosh you answered 😂 I love your videos by the way! it's very inspiring - inspiring me to be creative and all 👍😁
🖤
paint tip!!! clark and kensington paint, or royal paint (they’re both made by the same company) are the BEST PAINTS!!!! it saves you so many coats because it covers so evenly and so well! i’ve painted probably a thousand times with at this point probably every brand, and after much trial and error, i’ve found these paints are the best best best!!! also so much more affordable than almost all others!!
Dude I’m actually obsessed with the 3 little arched mirrors! They’re so cute!!
They are my favorite.
Cute boyyyyyyyy Yay
It looks stunning!!! Obviously lol. Also, I couldn’t agree more; painting is the worst! I recently moved to Wisconsin and I’m in the process of painting my place and I hate it ha. Unfortunately I have no friends here to help 😭👎🏻.
You got this - I believe in you xx.
What camera do you film with?
I have three - this was mainly filmed with a Canon t3i Rebel
Love the color
Thank you!
If you ever have to cut glass again, a tip for going around any big curve like those arches! instead of making those off shoots like you did after tracing the whole curve, you can cut out the arch in smaller sections by tracing a bit of the curve and then trailing off to the edge of the glass in a straight line. That way you can break off smaller pieces instead of doing that whole curve at once, and you can sand any rugged edges like you did (:
Oh thank you!
Shout Out to the “cute boy” for the help! 🤭 I see ya Ms. Metz 👀
🖤🥰
Shmoxd x Rachel Metz?! HERE FOR IT.
🥰
Love the way this turned out. Absolutely beautiful. 💕💕💕
Thank you!
Watching your videos and I always wondered why you hated painting so much until I decided to paint my entire house 🥴. Taping out a room to getting the lines completely even (The Virgo/perfectionist) are going to be the death of me. When I got to my living room, I completely stopped caring and my lines are wonky af 🤷🏽♀️
Lol you’re more than welcome to come live at my house and flip whatever you want to whenever you want to!!
I own a glass shop. You tried to cut an inside curve which is really high level glass cutting skill. Cut off as many straight edges as you can and then slowly going around the curve in small sections.
Your videos are really great. I would love to see some series from you on how to avoid annoying mistakes, like when you're painting, drilling and such. Mistakes people that only fix something in the house once a year do, but can cost time / money and frustration. Also, I just realized it's so good that your face is not showing a lot during the videos. That realization came just after the previous one during your other "best friend call me out" video that I couldn't do much of anything else than breath looking at that face, so it would've been a pity to miss any part of your great work. So, yeah...
Cute boi is cute
Hi 👋 CALI!!!!!
omg love shmood, more collabs pls
That mirror diy is absolutely gorgeous! Here I am going to find myself a good quality glass cutter and give it a go! Also love that you and Shmoxd are friends, such a great match of chill :)
Man...I would've been like....Bump that mirror LOL. Kudos to you! I love the ledge.
The three mini arch mirrors look awesome on that shelf! Like better than the large single mirror would have I think. Nice save!
A dado blade would be clutch for that frame.
Curved cuts on glass are so stressful because there is a always a risk of cracking. I’ve done a few stain glass projects and the techniques we use could avoid that big crack that happened. I would suggest checking some videos out if you’ll be doing something like that again !
Love when I get notifications of your videos! Makes my day! 😍❤️🙌🏻 also I’m so glad that glass broke because those three staggering arched mirrors are EVERYTHING 😍😍😍😍 need those in my life!! Also glad you are having “cute boy” help you out! You deserve it!
I reached out to give Cali scritches :D
I actually enjoyed painting the wall myself. Being the perfectionist , I prefer doing it myself :D. Painting walls calms ke down and silences my overactive brain. As usual, tq for making videos that is inspiring and honest, your videos are always straight forward and your journey is always real be it successes or mistakes during diy, tq so so much.
I love your work, you made me want to go college for interior design ❤️💜 thank you

Rachel, my love...I am sure Holly loves what you have helped her home become. If you were my roommate I would say "please...do what you would like and if you would be so obliged help me make a luxe pet condo for Callie and my cat kids."
“Hands on” RACHEL U LITTLE MINX 😌
Adorei 🤩
This is amazing! What I love is how you are refining a space and elevating someone’s personal taste. This can be applied to anyone which is great!
Thanks so much! 😊
The space looks fenomenal but ..... i see spaaaarks **---**
@Living to DIY with Rachel Metz omg you replied !!! I love you Rachel ❤️🙏🏻
Thank you!
I love how the mirrors came out. It looks like an artistic interpretation of “signal strength.” Something we see all the time on our devices up in the corner and something we all need in life.
Love it.
Just carelessly runs fingers over top of table saw blade... Eeeekk!!
I know I know!
I saw what you did at the beginning with the editing. Nice touch!! And maybe just maybe one of your videos you'll start off bye saying "This is how weee dooo it"!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
With glass you have to go about cutting it very slowly, meaning you should’ve just cut the two vertical straight cuts and THEN gone back in and made a third cut that did the rounded part on one side, and then a fourth cut that made it rounded on the other side, and then maybe a few additional cuts to get in closer to your curve. You always have to approach curves or circles from far away and make a lot of cuts to slowly get to the curve. *i make stained glass*
Thank you for this!
Can’t help but love the coffee table Rachel did you make that or where can I get that table
Always detailed in the description xx.
It’s amazing to me how something so simple can transform a space. Love that art ledge.
Isn't it fun?
I realize the mirror didn't turn out as planned but the alternative is simply brilliant. love the room!!
Isn't it the cutest?
Freaking LOVE seeing other females in painty pants!! This is my look..thank you for showing that women can learn amazing skill sets from from our fathers❤️
Don't need to learn them from our fathers. Self taught since my 1989 divorce & first home purchase = 31 years.
Yes we can!
Shmoxd!!
My favorite.
I loved the three mirror trio, it’s a cute idea!! I would definitely want to see another collab soon!
It's so cute. There will be a lot of collabs xx.
Love how it turned out! Nice work Rachel. 🖤

@Living to DIY with Rachel Metz Awww 😍 I love you and your masterpiece! More subscribers to come 🥰
You're far too kind.
I am so surprised you have never collaborated with article! This space is screaming for new sofas!
I've collaborated with them three times (got to dig deeper in my channel). I'm saving new couches for my house! Kinda tired doing everyone else's spaces so saving that for me.
Those mirrors are so cool 👍🏼
They are!
Ooooh Rachel got herself a little DIY bae 🤣 loved this makeover as always!
🙃
great job. looks beautiful. I love that green.
Thanks for the love!
Happiness is waking up to one of your videos!
@Living to DIY with Rachel Metz I think it's safe to say that we ALL have your back 💕
Thank you for love!
Another successful space, Rachel! Love your ideas; however, you must be careful! You coulda’ poked your eye out with that stick😂😂😂 (Didn’t all Moms say that to their kids)?😉☺️
I actually think painting in an odd way is therapeutic 🥰 In high school, I was in a class called Stage Craft, where we built sets and props for the Drama department and I was always given the detailed work cause I did pretty well at it and enjoyed doing that myself 🥰👍🏻
Do you have any tips or tricks for painting the corner of your accent wall that adjoins the main color? I’ve tried painters tape, but the line isn’t crisp.
Precision tip brushes.
Thank you for being so honest about the time it takes to paint! When you watch someone else do it, it looks so easy. I painted our small living room and it took me forever & i now hate painting! But it looks great!
Thank you for watching!
i've said this before, but... sometimes i just.... read through the comment sections of your videos for the instant mood boost all this love and support give me :^)
You guys are the best.
Are moving? What about the shed and bedroom? WHY????☹️🙁
Because this isn't my home? You should know if you're following along I'm just roommate and I want my own space.
What is the green you used for the kitchen cabinets again?
@Living to DIY with Rachel Metz thanks girl!
In that video xx. Can't remember off the top of my head.
Yeessss when my two favorite DIY’ers work together to make something that wasn’t planned but super cool. So happy seeing you guys work together. Love you guys
Love him.
Omg! My eyes nearly popped out when I saw that this new video was out😆
Thanks love!
Love that transformation.😍
Thank you!
Hello friend. As per usual Metz you knocked it out of the park. Beautiful. OneLove.
Thank you!
It's insane how talented you are! Thanks for your videos. Hugs from Paris, France
You are way too kind!
I always "shop my house" when I want to redo a room, and use stuff I already own....❤️
It's the best.
Just a tip I’ve learned from years of painting... invest in a good quality artist angled paint brush (Michael’s coupon) to use for crisp clean cut-in’s and small bowl/cup of paint. I promise it will save you time and money on the back end i.e. less time/money on Painter’s tape and cleaning up wonky lines. 🤷🏽♀️ just a suggestion.
It looks so good🖤 I love how you styles the picture ledge & I love how the mirrors turned out.
Thank you!
Great job with this wall, simple, chic, and adaptable for growth. Rachel you never disappoint. 💛From Texas
Thank you for your love and support!
