You guys ask quite a bit how I go about my process so I wanted to keep it 100% and show you the real deal. I am very excited to be wrapping up the LAST makeover in Holly’s home before my next chapter but wanted to break this #bathroommakeover down as much as I could since it’s going to be a detailed one. The first thing we have to do is get this back to its original form and dissect exactly what we need to do to bring her vision to life. Thank you so much to Care/of for sponsoring today’s episode xx.

SUCH a different video tonight but I'm excited for you guys to slow down, chill, eat ice cream and get to know my process. Nothing professional about it besides my cheetah robe - love you guys always xx.
Loved this video! I just have to say, I am so damn excited for you to get your very own place and make it Rachel Oasis! I love how you’ve done Holly’s house but to see a transformation on your very own happy place...yep! Definitely need/want that. Hope that you’re doing fantabulous Rachel!
I loved this so much. Thank you for taking us through your journey with this bathroom and giving such great tips in your “look back”
To remove wall anchor. You will need a hammer and a something on the wall to protect the wall from the hammer. Step 1: place screw into anchor halfway Step 2: get a hammer and guard and tug the screw out
Are you thinking of doing a live chat on USworlds soon?
I love how this woman expresses herself. No edits. Just so true to herself.
Take a shot every time she says "fun fact" 😂 all love 💙
Even tho you make some mistakes along the way, you are still a GREAT diy and designer! Also the ending revel is everything i love it! ❤️
I really love your videos, but whyyyyyy do you move your hands in front of camera so much... bit annoying, but you are awesome haha big fan :)))))
Hi, Im a new subscriber here on full binge mode watching all your vids. How can I hire you to help me reno my house. I'll be 30 in June and my house screams both college and grandma lol. Help please
Holographic 80s I believe commented about the shelf :)
Love the re-do, love your channel and love your video-editing style
Personally I’m also over the floating shelves trend. Can’t wait to see your ideas for alternatives! Also thank you for the example and authenticity of admitting when you are wrong! Everyone makes mistakes, and it’s very realistic to revisit an old project and question what/why you did what you did.
Yeah Boyee!! I really dig your room makeovers. So the fact that you have a bunch of feedback to take into this room the second time is gonna be Dope. Until da next one, stay Golden Ponyboy 👍. Dirty Jersey out!!
I’ve seen the Rust-Oleum paint that goes onto tile and I’ve seen a lot of people like it.... I kinda want you to use it to see your opinion 😂
Love seeing the design process!
Yay!
You are so funny. 😂 I want that leopard robe!! Thanks for another amazing video Rachel! 🥰
Appreciate that xx.
Looking forward to see the new make over ^^
Me too!
Hey Rachel, can you recommend a good portable table saw?
I haven't used a portable table one besides my miters - I love my Makita miter saw.
Lol Shurtain Cower 😂😂😂 I am dead!!! I love you girl! 😂
Haha
I would love to see you do makeovers with styles you actually like!! I find that majority of room/house makeovers are the same right now & it’s getting stale. I’ve grown to highly dislike the plants in room trend & all white bedrooms. I’m begging you... pls express what you like!!! Hahaha
@Maria Sanchez soon hopefully!
@Living to DIY with Rachel Metz yeah I definitely understand, I meant that I would love to see that in future projects! Whenever you’re able to of course.
GIRL trust me - if it was my house, I would. Soon enough but there are plenty other DIY'ers you'll be able to watch until I get my own spot. I can't execute me because it isn't my place!
Your best video! I had some other things I had to do so I was quiet a few months behind on your videos. I figured I would just work my way back but two minutes into the kitchen video you sounded not quiet you. I like your new voice! The bathroom makeover-makeover shows so much growth! You Grow Girl!!!! And hopefully I will see you on BAIB!
Thank you love!
a girl who know how to use tools is hell of good youtube content. i am glad we find you and we decorate our homes with your ideas!!
Thank you for watching!
Love the glasses!
Thank you!
This video made me laugh so hard! You are adorable Rachel Metz. None of us will deny it and neither should you. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Haha thank you!
Sent you a message on Facebook!!!!
Why are you moving? Where are you moving to?
You'll have to wait and see xx.
I am so thankful, normally you never know in a makeover what actually worked!!! Sara Nena DIY
Appreciate that xx.
Thanks for sharing this great video, I received the wonderful one from replicaclubs..ru yesterday
Um... leopard print robe?!? I love! How can I get one?!
Amazon!
Can you make a video of your skincare routine?? Your skin is flawless 😍
Thank you!
I don't come to your channel for trends, girl I come for your honesty, your mistakes, and your rocking point of view! I love the way your channel is going and growing and I love learning along with you as that is REAL LIFE
Thank you so much!!
The comments: "You did a thing wrong" Rachel: "You are like a little baby. Watch this" *releases 20 minute video about the many many things she did wrong* In all seriousness love it that you do these self-reflections on your projects, they're actually really useful. And it's great to hear you're so close to being in your own place soon!
I appreciate that!
Excited for you! Can't wait to see you work your magic (skills) for your own place finally! Rachel you are a boss! You have a big heart, and its time for YOU! Love you and God bless all your endeavors.
And she's beautiful 😍 w perfect skin 😍 ✨
your honesty is one of the many reasons why I keep coming back. it's so easy to DIY and feel defeated when it's not perfect, and it's good to know that most everything in DIY world is still fixable.
I love your design process! What program were you using to bring the pictures together?
Can’t you paint tile?
Okay. Loving this entire video. We all need to admit when we mess up. There is no shame in mistakes, but there is no pride in shying away from them.
Proud of you mamas!!!! You're so wholesome and inspiring. I love that you share your fuck ups with us i dont do diy or interior design but i beat myself up less when i fuck up w work cause it feels a lil more human
Wait? Paul is in the new Selena series on Netflix?!?
You are so hard on yourself sometimes. :) I'd rather you say that the space wasn't working instead of " I did it wrong". Language is very powerful. With you leaving, it makes sense that you would want to make changes before moving out and changes that will suit Holly's new use of the room. Not sure who's been pushing you to explain yourself in every video. I guess you want to direct people to not criticize but to instead be more supportive. I get that. You are putting yourself out there. Not many people are brave enough to do that. When I am doing my place, function comes first then beauty. It takes a while to figure out what is working and what is not. I have learned not to compromise for cheaper options. You end up spending more in the end because the piece often doesn't work and just causes frustration. But sometimes just moving things around brings a miracle moment that works. I find less is more when it's the right peice. FYI -I think I need to get a stud finder ! :)
It's a relief to see that not ALL DiY makeovers come out 100% "perfect" or the way you expect it to be. I get super bummed about my mistakes. Your videos help me feel that, not all my ideas or my decor/reno has to be permanent or be perfect. Thank You for always being real.
At first I thought the Care/Of package was a Nike Sneakers Box. :)
Me encanta tus vídeos no entiendo lo que dices 😊 pero a un a si no me pierdo tus vídeos
Dear Rachel, I really appreciate your sincerity. I know it's hard to admit a mistake, but you're a strong personality and you can be a role model for everyone else here on USworlds.
🤙🏾🤗
So happy to have come across your page. You’re the friend I would consult for their honest opinion about everything 🙂
Thank you!
Are you aries moon ising??? ♈️⚡️
0:40 Pfffft!!! That was me! Didn't expect you to actually read my comment! Well you live and you learn :) Point of life, you know?
Haha yay!
To get anchors out of the wall, screw a screw partially back in and then pull the screw out☺️
Thank you!
Rachel, one thing I like about you is your willingness to talk about what is not working, and what others have pointed out and been correct about. That it is about learning and teaching, sharing our collective knowledge, not about putting anyone down. :)
Thank you so much!
I have never trusted stud finders. I use the knock-then-test method using a skinny finish nail to test where there is resistance behind the drywall.
Definitely not the way to go! You may hit a pipe that was closer to the drywall for whatever reason. Be careful.
Love this new format!! thank you! And thank you for rocking that hairstyle! gives me so much confidence to see that on someone else than me!
I bought that stud finder after the first video. Even when you mess up, you still help out. ❤️
So now i NEED to see what kind of shelves you actually like!! I’ve been waiting for this moment 😂😂
If you ever start making merch: 1. Hold Please 2. Fun Fact
loved this video! It's easy for me to forget that mistakes can happen to even the best makers. Really showed the reality of this process! 🖤
Can't wait to see what you do when you get your own place 😊🤗
Just fyi for other bathroom makeovers: you can re-paint tile!! I haven't done it myself yet, so do your research. It gives off *very* strong fumes during the process. But just wanted to share this as an option for anyone looking to avoid a big demo while still making a big transformation. Cheers!
I love your honesty, but most of all I am grateful to you for showing us what did NOT work, so I can avoid mistakes in my own projects. I also appreciate that this was a long-ish video and you took the time to explain everything so thoroughly.
Loooooooved this video girllllll! We always see the happy ending of the renovations and it seems that when we make mistakes in our homes it is because we do not know how to do things. Seeing that you also make mistakes or stop liking things makes me love your channel even more and brings me a lot closer. Sometimes (as stupid as it sounds) we build an image behind the content creators on youtube that's way too dehumanized, like characters, and this remind us that we are all trying and learning how to upgrade our spaces. Thank you Rachel, this is one of my favorites videos. Love from Argentina!
Props to you for showing how you change your mind and re-engineer. That is a natural part of the process for me. Sometimes it’s frustrating, but I feel so much better if I let it evolve!
Gotta love a chatty video. Ready to see the new design. Your next chapter is going to be my favorite. Ready to see how Rachel does life for Rachel.
Gotta love a chatty video. Ready to see the new design. Your next chapter is going to be my favorite. Ready to see how Rachel does life for Rachel.
Just wanted you to know you pop up before Rachel Maddow on my search thingy.
You are human after all ❤️❤️❤️
@18:59 💕 I can't hear or see anything other than that spectacular cheekbone contour! You have it All!
Relieved to see the plants have been moved! For anyone struggling with plant lighting, the bets tip is to make sure your plants have a view of the sky - then you can adjust their position from there.
Hey girl!!
My dad says you can tile over tile ,, his words where sticks like shit,, meaning better then tiling to the wall 🤣 zx
Love your channel, and the Careof promotion looks cool, but are you aware how much plastic waste that’s going to create in the long run? I really love watching your stuff but I can’t help but comment how influential you might be and how deeply you might be contributing to the global warming problem by turning a blind eye for a promotion! Sending you lots of love!
Thank you for this!
New holiday drinking game: Everytime Rachel says “fun fact” we take a shot ?😝😝🤍 who’s in ?
@Living to DIY with Rachel Metz great minds think alike 😘 great video ! Can’t wait to see part deux! Have a great day Rachel 🤍🤍🌱
Haha I commented that back to someone last night 😩🙃
I found your channel 3 days ago and I've been binge watching ever since. I moving soon and needed tips on the ideas I have and you've help so much. Thank you! -New Subbie!
Yay! Thank you for the love!
Can’t wait till you have your own house, I’m sure it will be fabulous 🌸
One day!
I enjoyed the format of this video. Sometimes I wonder about the "future" of made-over rooms. Love that we get to see that sometimes from you!
Wanted to test something new out.
Love your Hudson Bay blanket on your bed!😀
🖤
nobody cares about the '''''bags''''' under your eyes :)
Thank you xx.
I love yout work. Since you want to retile, maybe consider vinyl or stick and peel? If that could work that'd be awesome. Goof luck with the reno!
Thank you!
Same girl! I despise floating shelves , they create too much clutter for my liking 🙈😅 I like everting to be tucked away a in a dresser 😂 nice and tidy haha
I agree!
I have a feeling you bought a house or you're really looking for one and i can't be more excited!
@Living to DIY with Rachel Metz not problem, I will keep watching your videos and sharing them so you get there! You really deserve it!
I wish! Not quite yet.
I want to be your apprentice!
You’ll have less work and less damage just pushing those drywall anchor’s into the wall. 👀 They’ll become a relic behind the wall.
I know! Learning the hard way.
I legit might be investing in the stud finder that you recently got - I have one but it's not really reliable and I don't know if it's the brand or because my house was renovated by the owner in a DIY fashion. Example: the space right above my toilet my stud finder thinks the entire width is a stud which made it very nerve wracking trying to install shelves. Very surprised you don't like floating shelves but then I remembered a lot of your makeovers have been for other people. Can't wait to see what your DIYs will look like when you get your own house and the only person you have to please is yourself!
Zircon is definitely worth it! I can't believe how many false negatives I was getting.
idea! Maybe make the shower curtain rod higher (very close to the ceiling) so it can make the room look a lot bigger! And i’tll cover like the stuff on-top of the shelf above the window 🤔 just an idea! You’re amazing 🤍
Just like I talk about in the video 🖤.
Thank you for your honesty and transparency. It is comforting and inspiring that even someone as skilled and experienced as you has to sometimes call a do over. Makes me believe I can take a chance and not be so hard on myself if my DIY projects don’t turn out just right. Be well!
That was my goal!
Hahahah love the realness as always
Yay!
Love that you are showin everithing. im upograting the bathroom and the kitchen at the same time.. and no.. i do not recomend it LOL
That is a lot at once but you got this!
If you're saying you're not professional bc you don't feel like it - Yoouuu... Are wrong. If it's bc you're avoiding a law suit of sorts... Ok I see u. Lol can you link the stud finder? Xoxo I might still be drunk ❤️
Have you thought about painting the tiles? Instead of forcing yourself to work with the colour.
No but only because I did that previously and hate how it turned out.
I just love how real person you are. I wish you get your own place soon to give us the real projects that you like. All the best Rachel. Keep going. 😍👏👏👏👏💖🎉🎗🎁
One day!
Fun fact the color of the wall paint reflects around the room. So if green doesn't compliment your skin, consider a different color when designing the room you'll probably be applying you makeup! ❤🌅🌵😷
Great idea!
Dont have icecream but I really enjoyed watching this with my cold pizza lool ! * those small shelves looked fantastic and I might use the exact same for my skincare , but inside my room instead , am just germophobic 😂 *THANK GOD u removed that shelf over the toilet 😫😂 i honestly loved the entire previous makeover minus that situation ... cant wait 4 the new re-makeover 😍
Thank you!
❤️❤️❤️
First off, your non existent under eye bags are ignored ;) 2nd, your try, you see if it works, if it doesn´t, congrats, you are a human being and you just learned something that did not work ;) sometimes we need these fails to really see that it might not have been the best idea, and by showing it, you make ppl like me feel a little bit better about all the mistakes I´ve made, that even pro´s like you can get something wrong, and that it´s ok :) I really appreciate you for both showing what didn´t work and how to fix it 💜 things can look amazing and picture ready, but that doesn´t matter if it´s not livable, and sometimes you won´t know that until you´ve lived with it. Thank you for taking us along :) can´t wait to see how this one ends up :D 💜💜💜
Loving you xx.
Can’t wait you see do some things for you with your preferences 💕
One day 😩.
Y'know. I like the black hallway, but yes it is definitely really absorbing a lot of light and can feel scary at first. But i see it as such a unique canvas for wall art like. Idk how to describe it but like since you've mentioned that she loves plants, one i could have ceiling art painted onnit - painting of a large Brazil pothos vine. Very simple 2 tone colour but it can be done sparsley. Idk I'm just thinking out loud. I'd love to design it and in the future share a link to a pinterest post to describe it better.
🖤
"Shurtain Cower" -the ever inspiring Rachel Metz
@Living to DIY with Rachel Metz 😂👏🏾yes of course
It's what I'm here for.
It’s a learning process , it’s good that you go over and fix things if they don’t work for the space . Can’t wait what your new place will look like 😃
🥰
The hardest thing in the world: Admitting our mistakes to others. Bless your heart.
Proud of you Rachel ❤
🖤
and this is why we stan Rachel metz! name another DIY USworldsr that would admit their flaws like this and show the changes. as always great work, even better explaining and im so glad that I found this channel to show how makeovers actually work/age.Also couldn't be happier to hear "on the way out" not because Hollys house makeovers have been bad but because I am so ready to see what you do in your own home!!!
You are the sweetest!
Please PLEASE don’t do floating shelves for me! I hate them!!! Well, more specifically I hate open shelving of any sort, floating or otherwise! I much prefer to have my things put away in a drawer or cupboard. To me, open shelves A) look cluttered and overwhelming and B) are just more things to get dusty & dirty. One of the main reasons I unsubscribed from Alexandra Gater’s channel is her obsession with open shelving as the perfect storage solution for any problem - not for me! I like Cas’s “Clutterbug” system, where she helps you identify you organising style so you can choose the systems that will work best for your natural habits. Ok rant over 😊
@Living to DIY with Rachel Metz you’re welcome 😊 Cas’s USworlds channel is called Clutterbug. If you learn about your style of organising, hopefully you will design spaces that will function better for you in future, and you won’t have to redo them, although I did really enjoy this video! 😄
Love that! Thanks for this feedback.
8:12 YES PLEASE ! The USworlds game is kinda boring. Every one is doing the same trend but you are definitely not boring Rach ! I follow you because you have something special about your style, your editing, you honesty. So go ahead !
Thank you so much!
Ahhhh I need that robe !!! Please share Rachel 🥺😍
